If you have any remaining, send an oil sample to Blackstone Labs in Fort Wayne IN. If not, send them one as soon as possible after running the engine again. Call them before you send it and explain the situation. They will call you after they analyze it and provide valuable insight for the small amount of $ they charge. I’ve been using them for 25 years. They saved my engine and possibly me once long ago and I’ve been sending them a sample every year ever since.

Update.
I removed the oil filter that has been on it for the last 25 hours. It's Perfectly clean. I also pulled the magnetic plug and that was clean also. Not that the material I found was magnetic. At this point I'm going to continue with checking the can and screen and also banjo bolt on bottom of engine. I think pulling the oil pump is wise also.

Jason,
Is it possible that when you cut through the filter element (with a hack saw blade) that you also cut into or through the metal inner structure that the filter element is wrapped around? That could feasibly cause this contamination.

Again, an oil analysis will reveal whether the engine is making metal and if it is, what type metal, and whether it is exceeding the normal range baseline for your engine.

Cutting into the filter with a hacksaw isn’t ideal because it introduces chips onto the filter. Use a knife next time for reliable results.
