As a result of my experience I always start the engine on one ignition only so that I can detect dormant failures before the second module fails and I am stranded away from my home field.

    Hi Peter,

You mentioned you'd replaced the Rotax modules with Ignitech. I did also, and engine ran fine for 10+ hrs. I recently tried firing it up, no sign of ignition. Checked trigger coils resistance and gaps, loose wires, good grounds, primary/secondary coil resistance...everything looked fine. Battery 13.2v starter cranks fine.

I'm hoping to find a step-by-step troubleshooting ignition system guide. Previous posters said troubleshooting guide is in MMH. Didn't see any troubleshooting reference in Chapter 74...maybe hiding somewhere else.

Any ideas and/or troubleshooting guide appreciated.

    TKS, Rober

Hi Robert, not that this is great analytics but do you use the switchable ignition spark feature (where the spark is generated with battery power rather than from the generator)?

So, I borrowed two modules of unknown age and history, plugged them in and everything works correctly. I have ordered Ignitech units as replacements.

Alastair, I’d like to suggest to pull this extra +wire to use this great feature to generate the first spark from the battery. Cool optional feature that is.
