Rotax recommand a battery EarthX Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4). On my 914UL I still have a lead battery charge by a regulator Duccati.

If I go for the Rotax Battery wich regulator is recommended?

I don't know if ROTAX recommend a regulator (I'm still astonish to see so much DUCATI installed...), but clearly, with such battery (Lithium Iron Phosphate) this is not the appropriate. Personally, I use a SILENT HEKTIK since now 7 years with satisfactions.

Apart from your own experience, do you have any feedback from other users? I don't know if Silent Hektik (the German company) has improved their reliability and customer support, but I had a friend who had a very bad experience with them.

The standard Rotax Ducati regulator works fine with the EarthX battery. There is no recommendation to change regulators when you change to a lithium battery, unless you want to for other reasons like reliability, etc. I have been running a standard Ducati regulator with an EarthX battery for about 9 years with no problems on my 912 uls. The Ducati is inside the firewall and is adequately cooled with outside air.

I suppose that the BMS in EarthX battery does the job to interface the Ducati with a lithium Phosphate.  Lithium need max current and volatge protection, minimun volatge discharge protection, limit continous charge when full, and a bit higher charge voltage than lead batterie.

    I have a 912ULS/Earth X

Rotax /Ducati VR failed at about 150 hrs - now running a Carmo (MOSFET) VR.

Have not done enough hrs on the Carmo to have an opinion on reliability but so far so  good.

Note: My Rotax VR was on the cockpit side of the firewall - so relatively cool at all times.😈
