    Hi Peter,

As Roger mentioned, a smaller diameter inner is preferred. Sling Aircraft specify inner cable of 1.5mm diameter.

As to recommending a type, personally I would avoid Teflon coated cable.

Could you make enquiries to the aircraft manufacturer at info@scheibe-aircraft.de maybe they can help with specification and/or supply?

Otherwise, if your airworthiness authority allows you to install non OEM certified parts, a good quality bicycle brake cable (not derailleur, too light I think) would be suitable. Maybe take a cable as an example to a bicycle service centre to best match what was installed.

    Cheers,Des.

    Thanks Des, for the feedback.

We are going to exchange the bowden cables, any advice on types ?

    Br, Peter

When I last needed to replace my aircraft throttle cables, I found a custom control cable maker. Essentially a person who advises on cable type, customises cable to length and adds fittings (if required) to marry the cable to the components.

I discussed my wants with him regarding length (in cable & outer sheath) anticipated forces, etc.

He wasn't cheap but he delivered exactly what I wanted - worth the investment.

This was outer Sydney, Australia but I am sure such services would be available around the World, especially where motorcycles are popular.

If it were mine, I would use the McFarlane aircraft grade dual cables made specifically for Rotax 912/914 and get rid of that splitter box.

James, Thanks for the suggestion, however after contacting Scheibe Aircraft, we have the response that they do not support the MCFarlane dual throttle cable for Rotax 912/914. Since we are operating in EASA, we cannot have a major change introduced for the Falke SF25C.

I find the McFarlane cables to be unnecessarily stiff - much preferer a lighter duty cable.😈
