Hi,

The access to the Turbo Oil sump in my plane is super difficult, and I need to check and clean it. Given that SI-934-39 provides a very useful solution for my case, I am going to remove mine and install the new version.

I have recently done an oil change, so I am not interested in changing the oil again. Do you think it's possible to remove the old sump and install the new one without loosing much oil and making a mess?

After removing it, I will put mine for sale. If there's anyone interested please PM.

Thanks

I have the done job this Saturday with a friend's help. The oil spill was minimal and so there's is no need to wit for the oil change to do this work. In my Stemme it's a very difficult job, but only for the accessibility. In other planes I guess that it's not worth to do SI-914-039, BUT I advice everyone to every 200h to check and clean the turbo oil sump. It's an easy job and it might save you a lot of problems.

In my 25 years old engine, I found less than 10 <5mm pieces of cooked oil.

When I need to pull oil hoses and don't want to lose oil or make a mess I use rubber plugs in the end of the hose or a fitting. Larger plugs for the hose end and smaller ones for a fitting. Even when I do a 5 year rubber change I use the plugs. Keeps from making a huge mess. You can get them at most any hardware store.

    p.s.

I have a 3 inch long string / cord on each plug so you never forget it's in there and put the hose back on.
