I have a 912UL on my Avid. I had a problem with it fouling the plugs. I lowered the gas level in the carbs and this seems to have fixed the problem. Now I have a hard time starting the engine. I keep the throttle full closed and choke all the way in service and it takes forever for the engine to fire up. Any help would be appreciated.

There are several reasons for hard starting, for instance, carburetors out of sync, soft-start not working, or not installed. But the first question I ask is, " When was the last time the carbs were serviced? " I've seen broken O-rings on the mixture screw cause issues. Then I look at the linkage. I recently worked on RAN S6, where the return spring on the choke was hanging up, preventing proper closure, and you had to hold the choke while stating. Also, the OAT can affect starting, especially when temperatures drop below 32°F (0 °C). Rotax recommends preheating at 35 degrees and below.

I have seen cracked rubber on the intake between the carbs and the intake manifold.
