I'd like to properly rework the mish mash of fuel fittings and hoses after the fuel pump.

The engine driven fuel pump has a 5/16" in and 1/4" out.  Should all the fittings downstream from the pump be 1/4"?

Do you prefer aluminum, brass, or stainless fittings?

Barbed versus beaded fittings?

See any other obvious issues that make your skin crawl?

This all began as a no start after 3 weeks of not flying my little Skyranger.  I've since answered some of my own questions and ramblings in the video.  I now know the difference between the FT-60 fuel flow and UMA fuel pressure sensor.

Thank you for your help.

    Hi Ryan

    This is very specific to Skyranger.  In the US supplied versions everyone uses AN fittings (37 degree fittings) and hoses from Rotax,  problem solved.

    Cheers

    I just went through this exact scenario on my RANS S-12. I also use an FT-60. Unfortunately I don't have time to detail all this but If I could talk to you on the phone, I should have some useful advice. Your phone number is not listed on Rotax Owner.

    Because of massive pirate misuse of telephone numbers nobody wants to post them any more. But, if you can find my number somehow, please give me a ring. I live in Rose Hill, Kansas.

    Can't comment on the use of the devils measurement system (imperial) as I am all metric -sooooo much easier.

    All unwanted comments aside;

    Where the component has been supplied by Rotax (fuel pump) stick with their spigot/barb and size all other (up/down stream) fittings accordingly.

    Note: It is far better to have a tight hose to barb fitting, than try to seal the hose by tightening the clamp. Clamp for security only.

    Spigot /barb fittings - by far the best are the single raised lip/barb type found on most modern cars. The old style multi barbs are the worst.

    Brass Fuel Connector, 3/8" Hose, Male ...

    More unasked for comments;

    Avoid standard serrated worm drive hose clamps wherever possible - For fuel & oil hose, use clamps with 360 degree clamping pressure & smooth edges eg  Fuel Injection clamps by suppliers like Gates, Proflow. For coolant system hoses use spring clamps.

    You seem to have a lot of unsupported hose & wires - talk to a Rotax mechanic or experienced user, about reducing hose movement wear/ damage.

    No sign of a fuel return system that will markedly reduce the chances of fuel vaporisation occurring.

    You did not describe your cold starting technique - Full Choke (enrichment circuit) and No Throttle. If engine fitted with Easy Start, will go to about 2200-2500 rpm on start up. As engine warms (rpm increases) progressively reduce Choke and increase throttle to maintain 2200-2500 rpm

    What fuel are you using ?

    Nice aeroplane 😈
