Think I screwed up.  I have a 912 uls with the new 90 degree spark plug boots (not screw on).  I didn’t install the original, so I don’t understand the procedure for connecting the boot to the spark plug wire.  And I can’t find detailed instructions in the documentation on how to install these.

so today while changing the plug I managed to pull the boot off of the wire on the bottom #1.  Can I remove the cable tie, stick the wire back in, & put a new cable tie on it?  That doesn’t sound right to me.  I remember the screw on versions.  This isn’t that kind of boot.

suggestions & advice welcome.

Inside the boot is a threaded prong (screw). It will unscrew and screw back on. Since the boot was pulled off cut the tip of the wire back 3/8". Then apply a DAB of dielectric grease to the wire tip and screw it back on until the cap stops screwing on.

    Hi Rick,

do you talk about the "new" spark plug connector (SI-912 i-013 / SI-912-027 SI-914-028 on Page 7 of 8 "NEW" 265249)?

Last week I replaced my spark plugs. The same problem: At one cable spark plug connector and cable seperated by itself. I never touched the cable - only the connector. This one connector was brown inside where the cable was - maybe traces of sparkes due the bad connection. So I checked all 7 cables and connectors. On every 7 cables/connectors only 1 rev. ccw and they where seperated !!!

So I removed all ROTAX connectors and replaced it with new NGK connectors (they were in stock). In my oppinion the old an new connectors are similar only the shape is different, the system with the screw inside is the same. It seems my cables and connectors are screwed togeter only with 1 rev.- at factory side.

So I marked on every cable how deep the cable is to screw into the connector, maybe 3 rev or more are possible.

So remove the cable ties, screw the connectors out of the cables, mark the deep at the cable (measure the dept of the bottom in the connector, not where the screw begin) and screw the connector (connector screw) in the right way into the cable (minor grease on the cable helps). Then new tie and everything is fine again.

    Greetings
