Hi,

I bought a 912 F3 S/Nr. 4.412.912 but dont plan to use the governor for a hyd. prop. I plan to use a electric pitch prop.

Can the governor plate be removed, the oil holes in the rear of the enginecase / gearbox be plugges, is there an blockoff adapter ? I noticed there are two oil hole on the rear of the gearbox. One for the shaft witch shouldent be a problem and one oil return hole that leads into the engine case. Assouming this one should be blocked. Also the upper gearshaft in the gear box witch drives the vacumpump is exposed as well. Dont know if theres a seal inside the gearbox preventing oil to get through the upper driveshaft.

Please help ! Dont want to spend time and money into a engine I cant use.

    So I can just unbolt the governor plate and use the engine as it is. Without plugging the open oil holes witch goes straight into the engine ? Sounds strange to me. Debree, water etc can get into the engine case ?

    You have 2 options to run your engine without the governor.

    Option 1) Have the governor plate, oil line, drive gears etc removed. Once removed, you must have blanking plugs installed behind the propshaft and the governor drive. This is very important as it seals the crank case. This will require the gearbox to be removed.

    Option 2) Leave the oil line, governer plate and drive gear in place and install a blanking plate in place of the governor itself. This blanking plate has a Rotax part # of 926231 and should be installed with gasket part # 931770. It is important to use the proper blanking plate as it does have an oil gallery machined in, allowing the oil to properly circulate and lubricate the governor drive gear bearings etc.

    THANKS ALOT !

    Since I will be running both EFI and TURBO I need all the space on top og the engine case to have room for the intake manifold.

    So if I get option #1 correct, I can remove the gearbox, pull out the drivegear placed on top inside the gearbox, remoce the governor plate and the fitting / oil feed plate on the back of the propshaft, and insert blank plugs ? And thats it ? No need to change propshaft or any other components ?

    If you go with option #1 and want to remove it completely, you will need to have a new roller bearing at the back side of the propshaft (as it is damaged during removal of the brass flute). You will need a blanking plug and o ring for the back of the propshaft and for the hole where the governer drive gear was located. Also you must plug off the port at the oil pump where the oil feed line was removed.

    All other gearbox components will remain unchanged.

    Any Rotax service center or iRMT will be able to help you with this.

    Here is a quick list of parts you will need (I suggest you contact your local Rotax service center to check that you order everything you need):

    1 x 810306 Oil inlet cover
    1 x 430175 O-ring
    1 x 232240 Roller bearing
    1 x 944222 Blinding shim (plug for governor drive gear)
    1 x 430060 O-ring
    1 x 641733 Oil pump plug
    1 x 230150 Gasket ring
    Lockwashers as required

    Now this is where things get tough ! My local rotax delare more or less tells me to replace the gearbox and propshaft to model 4 witch I dont belive is necessary :(
