Hi,
I am new to this forum, so I hope someone can help me.
I was doing a ground run static test, and had re adjusted the pitch, and was idling the engine at about 2000rpm, when the engine cut. No increase in engine speed, it was just like I had turned off both mags at once.
The engine is an early 912a with approx 1400 hours, has recently had a prop strike, and has had some work done on it by the Australian Rotax dealer.
Any ideas/ tips would be much appreciated.
Regards
Mike

    Hi Michael,

After the strike did the dealer or mechanic do a complete prop strike inspection? Not only the gearbox, but make sure the crank was not out of round and the big one here is to check to see if the crank was twisted. It takes some special tools. After the engine is at operating temp is the engine really hard to turn over by hand at the prop? Has the engine been running normal since the strike? Did you try a re-start?

Even after these checks it could still be something as simple as a loose or worn wire touching metal.

    Hi Roger
    Thanks for your response
Yes, the dealer checked the specs, and all was well, the engine has been running since the strike (briefly) and seemed normal. I did not check to see if it was hard to turn over after a run (it can be turned normally when cold). I have tried a re start without success.
I am off to check if the red wires from the flywheel area, earth at 3.2-4.5 ohms.
    Will let you know.
