We have initiated a discussion in this forum to address any questions you may have regarding the information presented in the video and SB.
For more details, watch the video HERE - https://www.rotax-owner.com/en/videos-topmenu/915-is-videos/814
Read the Service Bulletins in the attachments - This ASB only applies to Non-Certified Rotax 915iS and 916iS engines.
What is this about?
Internal quality checks revealed that there is a deviation in the valve housing and the banjo bolt connection. This could lead to oil leakage at the turbocharger.
Rotax classifies this Alert Service Bulletin as “Obligatory.” That means they have NOT identified an unsafe condition, but they do require you to carry out the steps in this ASB.
So, while it isn’t the same as a “Mandatory” Alert Service bulletin, Rotax expects you to comply and follow all the instructions provided.
What you need to do:
If you own, operate, distribute, or service ROTAX® 915 i, or 916 i engines within the specified serial number range listed in the non-certified Alert Service Bulletin (ASB) document, or if you have spare parts listed in the Alert Service Bulletin (ASB), you are required to take immediate action.
- Review the Alert Service Bulletin (ASB)
- Determine if your engine or spare parts are affected.
- The serial numbers of the affected engine types are listed in the certified version of the latest Alert Service Bulletin. ASB-915 i-020iS / ASB-916 i-008Is
- The affected serial numbers are provided in Chapter 6) Appendix of the ASB.
- Check engine serial numbers and production dates against the affected engine list.
Deadline for Compliance:
- Before the initial installation in an aircraft and/or spare part
- On undelivered engines, before delivery
- Carry out this exchange before the next flight on the engines listed in section 1.1, according to the instructions in section 3, but at the latest after 1 year (from the date of the initial issue of this Alert Service Bulletin)
