I'm a new owner of a 912s and when reading everything I can I've noticed that it seems that if there's a after market part (carb boots, air filter, oil filter and of course starters) Rotax says there no good, is there any products out there that Rotax does endorse as usable ?, it just seems to me that as a aftermarket business if your putting out defective replacement parts your not going to be in business very long so, to me, it would make sense to sell a product that would match or be better. I just get the impression that Rotax is protecting their very expensive parts.

Take oil filters, Rotax doesn't make oil filters, someone makes them for Rotax, we run into the hi price oil filters from Honda for motorcycles,$22.00+, Wix makes their filters, I would buy 6 at a time for $24.00 +/-, it only makes sense to use a production run filter, it would be interesting to know who is making the filters.

The oil filters are Mfg overseas and you can't get them. I already tried years ago. Good luck on finding the Mfg. I did find them after a month long internet search and a lot of luck and telephone calls. Rotax has a brand new oil filter that is just now on the market. It is very different inside from the old and from other filters here in the states. The older Rotax filter as of a month ago was very much like ours in the US and nothing special except for the bypass pressure. I haven't cut a new one open yet until I change oil on a plane. can't see throwing a new filter away at $25 a shot.

I had the same problem with my SkyTec starter. According to SkyTec, some of their initial release units had NO seal whatsoever (by their own admission it was their error). They sent me a brand new one just a few days ago.... it's now in and great! EXCELLENT customer service just call them!
