I have a 912ULS with the new oil pressure sender (3 wire-only two used). My oil pressure seems to read low for a new engine with only 3 hrs operating time, starts off at 35psi and drops to around 25psi after warm up. What is the normal pressure for such an engine, I know mine is still within parameters but seems low.

    Hi Dick,

Are you using an analog gauge or digital (what type)?
I would put a mechanical gauge in line and see if it matches the senders pressure. It could be a poor ground. I would tighten and check them all. You may only a few hours on the engine, but it may be the sender.
Did you install this engine, did you do an oil purge or was it already done?

    Dick,

My oil pressure is usually around 70psi cold and drops to 50psi when warmed up and at cruise.

Pick up a cheap analog pressure gauge at your local auto parts store and tee it in between the pump and the sender tmporarily.

What weght oil are you running?

    Bill.

    Hello Roger,

Can both mechanical and digital oil pressure gauges used at the same time permanently. The reason is only to cross reference the readings every once in awhile?

    Thanks,

    Andre'

    Hi Andre,

Yes you could hook up both gauges at the same time either temporary or permanent.
