Is it OK (for the 912 ULS engine / electronics) to do a momentary mag check while cruising inflight at @ 5,300 rpm?

Also, while cruising at @ 5,300 rpm, the 912 ULS in my RV-12 consistently shows 13.9 volt battery voltage and 1 amp charging rate (with everything on). Is 13.9 volts acceptable? My PC-680 battery seems to stay adequately charged at this rate.

Thanks!

    Hi David,

    The battery voltage is fine.
I don't see a reason to do a mag check up at 5300 rpm in flight. The difference between 3500-4000 rpm and 5300 is just a bigger number. It would be better to stay down in the normal range and on the ground for the mag check.
