Tachometer does not work

I installed my 912 engine an another airplane and now the tachometer does not work. I have tried my old tach and a new tach. There is about 200 ohms resistance between the two wires form the engine. Neither has continuity with the engine ground.

You may have damaged a wire on the fifth trigger coil or bumped the trigger coil and moved the air gap. Check the wires and the trigger coil air gap.

Hi Tony,

See the Heavy Maint. manual sec. 74-00-00 paragraph section 2.1.1
You can check the trigger coil gaps with a feeler gauge.

Hi,

I seem to have the tach coil gaps move every 100 hours or so. Is there an aftermarket tach solution that would connect to something less variable such as the electronic ignition or anywherre except those coils at the rear of the engine?

Hi Mike,

These shouldn't be moving once set. Lots of engine out there and they don't move. Loctite the screws and snug them down well.
