I have had very good results with an Odyessy 680 battery for past 7 yrs for 912; cost was around $120. Previous Power Sonic batteries ($50) lasted 3-4 yrs and lost power. I wasn't sure how long the Odyessy should last so I contacted factory and was told they typically last 10 yrs and as far as 12 yrs. The last thing you want is a dead battery far from home base since Rotax can't be hand propped. I'd invest in the Odyessy.

I put in a Deka ETX14 220cca 12 lbs in my plane since 2010 , 400hrs ago . had it tested this last fall thinking maybe its time to replace , it tested as good as new.

I use a trickle charger when aircraft is hangared , I think this is the key .

I want a fully charged battery for starting my 912 uls , especially when its winter . I have never had any sort of starting issue. 570 hrs

I found an aircraft battery on eBay for 912 uls
Shipped from Albany, Oregon by CRAZEDpilot
    Weighs only 2.4 lb $214
Anybody know anything about these batteries ?

Judging by the light weight it is almost certainly a lithium battery. There are different types of lithium batteries. For aircraft consider LiFePo (lithium iron phosphate) as they are more stable than other chemistries such as LiCo (lithium cobalt). Consider also getting one with a built in BMS (battery management system) such as EarthX brand, to prevent damage from under or over charging.

I was thinking of a lithium, did some research and didn't like their function in cold weather, freezing and below. They need to have a load applied to stir up or get the battery active to produce power. On a 912 uls I want a battery to be at full power on the first press of the starter, especially when out on some frozen lake and wanting to go home !
