Hi All, My oil pressure is 4.5b when cold and around 4b when at running temp, I have noticed that the gauge pointer waves around when the engine is at temp and at lower revs, is this normal?

    Hi Andy,

Is this an analog gauge? It can move some between idle and higher rpms. Start up pressure many times is a little higher than it is after it warms up and that's normal.

How much are we talking about waving around? Is it only between idle and higher rpm or is it moving around after warm up and after you are at a steady higher rpm?

No Roger, it's rock steady at 4bar it's only when I throttle right back to low revs it flicks from about 3bar to 4bar.

    Hi Andy,

That may be normal. Things that may cause this are: old oil pressure regulator plug screw and ball bearing, a ground not as good as it could be, some air in the system or it may be normal and so long as it stays between 3-4 bar from idle to cruise rpm I think you're good.

Maybe Rob or Conrad has something to add?

Sounds like the relief valve is just un-loading. THe pressure is good so no need to worry.
