Hi folks, any thoughts on vibration between about 2400 and 2900 engine rpm why the MAP reaches an indicated 40" at full throttle. The engine is fitted in a Europa XS 914 C/S prop. Ta, Bob.

    Hello Robert,

Assuming that everything on your engine is OK, the vibration and high MAP are somewhat related yet not. I had a similar issue before. I would start with one thing at a time.

    1) Check your your throttle position and waste gate and re-calibrate if required. (Ref to 914HMM Sec 76.00.00)

    2) Ensure that your prop is pitched equally and would then do a static run and get a reading of the RPM to ensure that it is not exceeding the norms. Re-pitch the blades if necessary to stay within the limits.

    3) Check and ensure that your carbs are synchronized well to answer your first question. Do not cut corners when synchronizing your carbs, start with mechanical first and pneumatic afterwards.

Hope it works, Please keep us informed.

    I agree with Andre.
We had a similar vibration range on our Europa with a 914 c/s prop. What cured it was leaning out the needle position to the 2nd notch on the 1-3 carb, #3 notch on the 2-4 carb and leaning out the idle mixture on both.
The MAP should be 40" at full throttle. You should get 5750 static with a c/s prop.
