Had a slight power loss after t/o, on shutdown noticed white smoke from the exhaust as I came back to idle from 2000 rpm. Investigated and enquired around from those in the know; consensus was - possibly a full turbo sump with oil getting through the seals into the fuel/air mixture. Opened the sump, full. Emptied and checked the banjo bolt, ball and spring - all OK. Did not check the scavenge return line - probably should have. Took it for a test flight.

Achieving full power 5800 rpm, 39.9 inches boost - performed and felt normal. On landing, continuous white smoke. On inspection, exhaust internals wet with oil, oily mixture in both carb trays, oil drip from turbo. Inspected turbo, impeller loose, lots of play. Impeller blades look (too me) slightly worn as a result of the play (see photo). To cut a long story short - blown turbo. Very disappointing on an aircraft meticulously looked after (Gyro MTO Sport with 300 hours).

UPDATE: Very happy to say that it seems that I am covered by the warranty. Bert Flood Imports (Gary and Wal) have been fantastic. Here is hoping.

Thanks, Bud (Vaughan)
