Hello Rotax experts.

I have been building a Zenith 701 and as some of you have seen on this forum, I had a problem with one of the cyl. heads on my engine. I did replace the head and everything is according to specs, except when I try to do the carb sync, the engine is running rough, even though I am adjusting with a carbtune pro mechanical manometer. The propeller is a woodcomp three blade and has been adjusted with a 13 degree pitch for initial testing.
The exhaust springs I received with the exhaust system are not compressing the joints enough, so my question is, can this loose connection of the exhaust joints cause a rough running of the engine?

Thank you,
Johann G.

no, an exhaust leak should not make that much difference.
Does the manometer show the carbs are sync'd and it is still rough?
Or are you having trouble getting a good sync?

    Hello Rob.
I hope you received my report on the cyl head being the correct problem you described. Thank you for that.
Yes, I am having trouble getting a good sync. Everything is being done according to the video on this site.
When trying to sync the carbs yesterday, the right carb was overfilling and fuel dripped from the balance tube. I just thought this was because the engine was shaking too much. The carbs are jetted correctly according to Rotax manuals for the ULS engine, but the carbs have the 914 diffuser because of a different bowl from a 914 carb.
I was told that it would not make that much difference and it would not effect the running of the engine. Maybe this is really causing my problem?????

I don't know, never tried a 914 bowl/diffuser on a 912. I dont think it would make any difference? anyone else know this?

Try setting the sync at a higher RPM, the shaking of the carb does mess up the fuel distribution makes it difficult to sync.
