Hi, I wonder if you could shed some light on this problem?
Our recently serviced and dealer checked engine has developed flooding in one carb. We have done about 15 hours since service This is at low revs and stops as the revs increase. Cleaned the float needle several times now, small dirt particle found the first time but none since. Problem started when the engine started running rough after powering up to backtrack after a landing at around 2500 rpm. Removed carbs to check for dirt and cleaned idle and main jets. Ran better after the clean but one carb flooding. Cleaned again and no improvement. I feel it can only be the float needle but new carb kits fitted at service. Fuel return line also clear so not being overpowered by the pump?
I'm baffled

Were the floats for that carb inspected and weighed?

I agree. This is what I would check first with your symptoms.

Hi. I fitted some floats from my other engine that is running fine and still the same problem so changed the (new?) float needle and problem seems to be solved. However, I did find the rubber carb mount on the other carb mount cracked through hence the rough running. Could this have caused the other carb to flood via the suction from the balance pipe?
I fitted the float needle from the problem engine into my other 912S and no flooding at all.
Anyway, both are running just fine now :)
