    Good morning to all,
i am a new Member from Germany, experience with Rotax 914 Installation and very much Trouble with electrical noise and unsufficiant charging in an Europa XS.
At first, the voltages should be measured at all engine modes as such described.
My experiences are bad connectors or a internal worn ducati-regulator. This Regulator is not designed for a long life. The way to regulate the voltage to 13,5 - 13,8 Volt is to switch the not used electrical Power from the alternator to the internal Transistors of the Regulator. Therefore from the 220 Watt of the AC-Alternator, in the worst case, about 150-200 Watt are burned in the case of this Regulator. The heat produced is very high, and so after 500 to 1000 Hours the internal Diodes and Transistors are self-desoldered and the regulotor makes such Trouble as described. The best way to save the life of the ducati-regulator is to cool him very good and the electrical load on board is as high as possible up to 150-200 Watt. In this cas, all produced power from the alternator is used on board, and the Regulator Needs not to switch the unused Power from the alternator to burn it in the the case.

It is very good described from the prewriter, how to check the Regulator.

In our way, after studying the internal design of Ducati-energia-regulators, we decided to take a better Regulator. In Germany is a Company "Silent Hektik automotive"
I told very intensively with the engeneer, he made a complete new design for his Regulator, for racing motobikes and UL-installations.
Only the power which is used, is switched to the 12 Volt bus and the battery.
And it is designed for more current (37 Amps instead of 20) . This is sufficient for the Peaks after Startup.
And a good lead-battery will only charged full as in automotive at Voltages between 14,0 - 14,4 V.
This is done well by this Regulator and a very silent 12 V-Bus is guaranted.
And it is pincompatible and you can Change it 1 to 1.
The Charge-Control is now a real charge-control. The Control-lamp shuts down only over 2000 rpm nomaly.
The ducati-regulator shuts the lamp down immediately after Startup on low rpm. But there is no charging, with amp-meter you can see, that -current flows out of the battery. On Rpm above 2000 there the Amp-meter Shows first Zero and dependent on the electrical load on board, at 2500-3000 there was a Charge current in the battery.
My experience is, if you think about this Regulator, it will survife the lifetime of your engine.

These are hopeful tips for those owners, which are angry about the ducati-regulators.

    Best regards

    Walter

Nobody in the US seems to be able to purchase the Silent-Hektik. Anyone know how to get one?

    Hi James,
Do they not send their merchandise over to the US?
Have a look at their website and if you need any help let me know.

No they don't ship to the US. I know several who have tried, but no luck yet.

    Well, James,
Special situations require special action. If we find a way to settle the bill between us I would be prepared to help. I recon that the buying price and potential customs/duties when send over from Europe to the US must be considered. I can find out on UPS fares from here. If "several" have tried how many boxes do we look at?
I have no commercial interest in this...
    Regards
    Peter
