    I’m experiencing the issue of erratic high oil pressure on a 70 hour 912 Rotax, and even after changing spring, mushroom and VDO sensor. I’ve been told to change the oil pump case, but expensive and  without any guarantee of success. Looking around just found this thread. Although it’s already old, I wonder if there is any new about the problem.

    Hey All;

    I have an 06' Eurofox with the 912ULS/582hrs and the "Flydat" EIS. About a week ago, the "Red" status light started coming on briefly once the Oil Temp comes up to normal. When it does, I've checked the Oil Pressure indicating less than 23psi, then almost immediately it goes back up to about 53-61. The pressure seems to stabalize during run-up, then the blinking Red status light issue returns while wating for take-off clearance.

    At first I suspected that with the age of the engince and the "basic" indicators, that it was a failing pressure sensor, which is a VDO with dual terminals. However, after reading the threads on this problem, I'm wondering if it's the Pressure Regulator Valve. I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on this, before I attempt to resolve this issue.

    Thanks; Dave

    Many times these errors are just a poor ground. You may have a ground, but a poor one. Bypass the ground you have right now with just temporary wire to a known good ground to the instrument and see it that helps. I've had a few of these cases.

    The best way to tell if you have an indication error or real fluctuating Oil Pressure is to temporarily replace the sender with an Old School Pressure gauge with a mechanical needle ponter.
    If the mechanical gauge is steady, You have an indication problem.
    If the Mechanical gauge fluctuates, the problem is real.
    A plus is that the mechanical gauge is capable of tracking Oil Pressure changes many times faster than an Electronic System that is filtered to steady the readings.
