Hello Team Rotax,

My plane mfg. SCODA, recommends changing K&N air filters on the Rotax 912 ULS every 100 hours. As you may be aware these filters are sold as ‘cleanable'. I have spoken with my Rotax supplier here in Australia (Horsham Aviation Services) and they say the K&N air filters DO NOT need to be replaced but simply cleaned with their K&N cleaning kit. My filters are at 100 hours (TOTAL ENGINE HOURS 450). What say you?

Cheers,

Fred

They don't need replacement unless you damage them. Clean, oil and re-install. Do not use gas or strong solvents to clean them. It will ruin the gauze liner. Use either K&N cleaner or a water based cleaner and some warm water. I use Oil Eater, some use Simple Green, ect... They are water based and biodegradable. Do not over oil.

I just did the cleaning for the first time. It was very straight forward. The only gotcha is you need time for the filter to dry after you rinse out the cleaning agent before you re-oil. I let mine sit overnight.

You have a choice of kits from K&N to do the cleaning and then re-oiling. I chose the non-Aerosol kit, so that it would not go flat between now and when I need to do it again in another year.

I ordered my kit off of amazon, but they are available other places.

My 912 K&N filter looks like the others except that the flange hole is larger - 2 1/2" inside diameter.  I can't seem to locate a replacement with this larger flange diameter.   Any ideas?   I note numbers stamped on it include N05946 and F026C6 (hard to read, could be wrong).

    Thanks all -

    What engine do you have?
    What carb is on it?
Is the Air Filter attached directly to the Carb?
Measure the Inside diameter of the Carb Throat in millimeters.

    So many Choices.

Oops - sorry for the hurry.

The AC is a 2009 Czech Aircraft Sport Cruiser, and the filter is a 5 3/4" round by 2" tall K&N.   Similar to

    ROTAX Air Filter SP-2706
    Engine Type: 912UL, 912 ULS, 2-Stroke

However, SP-2706 has a flange diameter of about 1 7/8" and my current filter has a much larger diameter flange (hose side) hole of 2 1/2" (id).

Checked K&N by dimensions, checked Lockwood and can't identify the part.  I'm cleaning it for now, but would prefer a part number and having a spare on the shelf.
