Hi all,

Was reading a website about our fuel filters, http://www.zenith.aero/m/discussion?id=2606393%3ATopic%3A402517

It really got my attention because the silver one is the one I have. The article also suggested to change from a 10 micron to the silver one that is also 10 micron.

Seems like a good filter...

I was looking on Amazon and the only one that didnt have a review saying it leaked was a 40 micron Russel one.
Russell 650133 FUEL FILTER https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0014BDEGG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-QqYCb9QH6XQR

Do I need to change my 10 micron filter that's been working for 450hrs?
The 40 micron Russel isn't the 100 recommended but would be better I would assume?
Is the 100 micron recommended or a must?
If so, anyone have a link to a good filter?

Thx!

that is not much surface area for a 10 micron filter. As you found out, one tank of poor fuel will plug it up.
And how do you clean a 10 micron screen? you cannot see the particles that can plup this tiny opening.
Anyways, for the carb engines you only need 75-100 micron. The 912S installation manual calls for 100µ.
Most gascolators have ~75µ, you should have the water/contamination separation features of a gascolator plus the easy servicing and eliminate inline filters that only add failure points.
Maybe the confusion came from the Rotax injected engines? as they require an approx 10 micron filter.
But the Rotax 874060 fine filter has a huge amount of surface area (1440 square centimeters)
