I have a kitfox IV with the 912UL and the oil tank is mounted above the recommended height. When I haven't flown for a month or more the oil drains into the cylinders. Will the rotax filter with check valve prevent this from happening? Thanks for your input.

It will help, give it a try.

The Oil Filter Valve will prevent the Oil Pump from losing its Prime due to the Oil Back draining into the Oil Tank.

Are you saying that if, after a month or two, you remove a bottom Spark Plug, Oil Drains out of the cylinders?
And occasionally you need to pull the plugs to clear the hydraulic locked cylinders and/or the first start is accompanied by a massive cloud of smoke?

Or is it that the Oil level in the tank is extremely low or Non-Measurable until the Oil Tank is "Burped"?
This condition is of no great concern.

    Thanks Bill,
Yes, after a couple of months. When checking the oil tank level if it is down I suspect drainage into the cylinder so I always pull the bottom plugs and drain the oil before starting. It is a nuisance but better than starting with oil in the cylinder. I'm hoping the filter check valve will prevent this from happening.

The Oil Tank draining into the crankcase is not unexpected with a high Oil tank, it is also not a major issue.
Oil in the crankcase is one thing. Oil in the cylinders is quite another.

I am surprised that Oil is getting past the Piston Rings.
One piston ring has its gap at the bottom and the other two should have their gaps in the top half of the piston.
There isn't enough Oil in the engine to fill the crankcase well over half full!

Has the engine had any head work done to it?
Does the Oil appear in all 4 cylinders or only one?

Is there any chance that the pistons were installed with all three Piston ring gaps located at the bottom?

    Thanks Bill,
The engine has 185 hours on it and heads have never been off, Don't know position of the ring gaps but oil leaks into all 4 cylinders.
