I have a new 914ul and every time I go to shut off it backfires I shut off one mag at a time. Idle speed is around 1500. Any help would be appreciated.

Backfire = Fuel burning Backwards and out the Carburettor.
Misfire/Afterfire = Fuel ignited in the Exhaust and exiting out the tailpipe.

If it is in the exhaust, as the engine spins down, it is still drawing fuel.
If you have a hot spot in the muffler this fuel can be ignited.
It might resolve itself as the hot spot is eroded over time.

I had that issue after wrapping the exhaust and muffler with header wrap. Removed it and back to normal.
