my Aircraft (Searey LSX with a R 914 engine) sat at idle for about six month during the summertime inside a closed hangar in Florida.

When I returned from overseas a couple weeks ago I found it sitting in a large puddle of engine oil (at least 1 liter) dripping from the exhaust where it joins the waste gate.

I am aware of the fact that when the engine is mounted below the oil reservoir, oil might be siphoned back to the engine.

To prevent this from happening I installed a shutoff valve just ahead of the oil cooler to shut off oil circulation.

With that valve closed, how can that much oil spill on the floor even if the turbo charger check valve was leaking, which is known to happen?
