Dear ROTAX reps:

I am trying to use ROTAX's latest 912 ULS Checklist/Maintenance Schedule (05-20-00 Revised 1/1/20) for my ACI.  I have got to say that this revised schedule leaves much to be desired -- past versions were more useful.  Here are a few things I found wanting at first glance:

1. The 100-hour check of the prop/gearbox friction torque is completely missing from the Schedule (apparently this is to be addressed in a future revision).

2. There are unnecessarily repeated actions (such as inspecting the air filter at #6 and #14).

3. Should combine similar tasks (such as the oil filter at #5 and #7).

4. Lots of wasted space for Interval Operating Hours columns (more space would allow user comments, inspection details, etc.).

5. Redundant tasks (such as #15 Liquid Level Check when #7 oil and #12 coolant have already been checked).

There, that's off my chest.  Perhaps I have too much idle time these days?  ;<)

I agree, this latest edition needs some serious proofreading!

Thanks very much for your observations. We've passed them on to the documentation team.

@David: a response from one member of the proofing team below...

    1. The 100-hour check of the prop/gearbox friction torque is completely missing from the Schedule (apparently this is to be addressed in a future revision). Yes, already noted

    2. There are unnecessarily repeated actions (such as inspecting the air filter at #6 and #14). #14 needs re-wording

    3. Should combine similar tasks (such as the oil filter at #5 and #7). This is an intentional hierarchy, after consulting with a large group of technicians around the world.

    4. Lots of wasted space for Interval Operating Hours columns (more space would allow user comments, inspection details, etc.). Going back to this format was requested by the majority of those surveyed.

    5. Redundant tasks (such as #15 Liquid Level Check when #7 oil and #12 coolant have already been checked). Intentional. This is a final look before the test run.

There, that's off my chest.  Perhaps I have too much idle time these days?  ;<) No, we appreciate the feedback and will use it in the next revision.
