I have a Dynamic 2015 with Rotax 914 in Brazil with 310 hours.

Podium gasoline here there are 25% of ethanol and 95 IO (AKI). When I use this fuel in one wing and change for the another wing to AVGAS I don´t feel any kind of alterations in RPM, Temperature, Pressions,.......notinhg.

In Rotax 912 I  have many many friends here using exclusive regular gasoline with 27% Ethanol and 87 IO (AKI) for many years and many hours, also without problems.

I have two questions:

1) Is there any problem in mixing AVGAS with regular gasoline in the same wing, making the ethanol concentration maximum of 10%?

2) If many people here use exclusive regular gasoline in rotax 912, what is the big diference and possible problems to use this kind of fuel in rotax 914?

Thank You,

Marcelo

Are you sure that IO is the same as AKI??  I have a hard time believing that a gasoline blend with 27% ethanol is only 87 AKI.  Pure ethanol is said to have an AKI of around 112.

It's not a problem mixing AvGas with AutoGas, except that if you consistently consume more than 30% AvGas you'll have to do the extra oil-system protocols.

Here are the characteristics of our gasolines

Marcelo, I know the gang that uses gasoline with alcohol and I see the following
    - wear level of carburetors, mainly in tanks.
    - fuel tanks use sealants which are excreted by ethanol.
    - Lack of confidence in gas stations, where they are adding a lot more alcohol than allowed and they also mix gasoline with solvents.
    - Regarding the mixture of automotive gasoline with beams, I have been told that they do not mix, when at rest it separates; have to check this information.

Rodrigo, thanks yous answer. About this I say:

    - wear level of carburetors, mainly in tanks.--->> My afraid is about tank. Carburetors no, second experience of people who use to use regular gasoline for a long time in rotax 912. - fuel tanks use sealants which are excreted by ethanol----> There is some dynamics using regular gasoline without problems. There was one Dynamic in Brazil which had problem stuffing the tank. Just one. Believed that was because solvents. - Lack of confidence in gas stations, where they are adding a lot more alcohol than allowed and they also mix gasoline with solvents.-----> I use to check in my hangar % ethanol before fuel my airplane (is very simple). SOlvent test? There isn´t easily tests. It´s my big afraid. To minimize,I use to buy at just one gas station. - Regarding the mixture of automotive gasoline with beams, I have been told that they do not mix, when at rest it separates; have to check this information.---> About this there´s no problem. I did many times.

Marcelo, the "characteristics" photo you sent appears to suggest that Brasil's "Indice Antidetonante" is the same as the US Anti Knock Index.  But it does not say how these numbers are calculated; just because the words are similar does not mean that the numbers actually match.  I do not believe that anything containing 25% ethanol is actually only 87 US AKI.  As you may know, in Europe they use other anti-detonation numbers which do NOT match the US AKI.  My greatest concern would be detonation in engines that are not running the proper minimum "octane".
