Hi friends,

We have a 914UL3 engine with a variable pitch propeller. Planning to fit it with a fixed pitch propeller i.e convert 914UL-3 to UL-2. Is there any retrofit kit / Service instruction available from Rotax, in this regard? Couldn’t find anything in the IPC.

We referred Rotax manuals and gathered what we may have to do:

               1. Remove Governor from the mounting location, blank crankcase location.

               2. Remove oil feed line to propeller shaft and blank off the opening.

               3. Not sure about propeller Shaft

-Is it possible to unplug and reuse? or need to buy a new one?

     Existing Part No is 837284.

4. Drive gear/ RGB can remain as is?

5. Also any need to change/modify TCU?

It would be great to receive all possible guidance.

Has there been any prior discussion on the subject in this forum?

Best regards,

Ray

    Hi Satyendra

It is possible to just fit a blanking plate to replace the governor and install an optional propshaft plug in the bore of the propshaft itself.  This can be found in thee IPC.  You could have the shaft removed and replace it completely with the UL2 version.  the gears inside are the same.  A trained iRMT should be able to advise you or do the job without too much trouble.  There is no Rotax kit that I am aware of.

    Cheers
