914 Muffler Temp

I just installed an Easy Heat engine heater and the cable is going over the muffler about 1” above

i didn’t like that so I bought 1” ID heat tape rated at 600d F direct and 2000 degrees radiant

is this sufficient for the muffler? It’s not touching but about 1-1.5” away

With the fire sleeve you should be good.

Thanks Guys, I didn’t want to go on a post maintenance flight and have smoke or worse. I’m pretty sure the cable wouldn’t take those temps well.

there aren’t a lot of options to route the electric cord to put on the block heater.

On my 914 I put the heating pad at the bottom of crankcase at #2 cylinder with the wire facing the propeller. Over 100 hours with no issues or fire sleeves.
