Hi,

I have just purchased Gates GTH-08 hose for my 912 ULS - Your opinion of this purchase & its use as oil hose would be much appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

    I am not familiar with GTH-08 hose, but most of us using Gates hose use the Gates Barricade, carburetor pressure rating is preferred unless you have a fuel injected engine.

    Hi James,

    Like you I use the Gates barricade for fuel line/hose however this is for crankcase oil - 12 mm oil hose that must meet temperature and negative pressure specification.

    Gates GTH-8 specifications can be found: https://fittingsandhoses.com.au/shop/hydraulic-hose/low-pressure/gates-gth/

    Rotax 912 oil line specifications (& actual operating ranges) (various sources);

    ·         Max working pressure 400 psi (Burst?)

    ·         Working pressure 135- 145 psi (Normal 29-73 psi above 3500 rpm)

    ·         Max temperature 140-150C

    ·         Max continuous temperature 130C (ULS) (Normal 90-110C)

    ·         Negative pressure of - 7.25 psi @150C ( 14.76 inHg)  (observe bend radius advice)

    ·         Bend radius 70 mm

    Sorry, I mistakenly assumed fuel hose.

    No apology necessary. At least you tried to help.

    I am surprised at the apparent lack of interest, after all this is something every Rotax 9 driver will need to consider every 5 years (rubber replacement).

    Just order the oil hose from your Rotax Service center. That said they don't all sell the same hose.
