Hello everyone, new to this site and the 912. I bought this 2010 RV12 this week and wow what a plane. Me and the previous owner went out and did some get acquainted aircraft flying. We did many T&G and other feel and test flying. On our last landing and still rolling the 912 cut-off. It started back immediately. The RPMs with the throttle pulled fully back was like 1290. I removed the cowling and all looks good. I don't have the small brass throttle stops mentioned on this forum.

My thought is the Throttle cable has stretched over time and the idle screw needs adjusting.......

Picture of my carbs attached.

Thanks

Your idle rpm is way too low so the engine just dies. Sync the carbs and reset the idle rpm between 1700 - 1800. Vans uses 1650, but still a too low. Plus never sit and idle at any of those lower rpm’s. You’ll beat the gearbox up with the 100 hp compression. The lower idle is okay for shutdown.

Do not just turn the carb idle stop screws to get a higher rpm. You need sync gauges to do this to make sure both carbs are balanced properly.

The RV12 engine stopped on the landing roll with the throttle closed. Can you not pull the throttle all the way out on landing? I think when I lost the windmill effect, It cut-off.

What kind of sync gauges do I need? I think I can do the sync. I'm in Foley, AL near "Gulf Shores".....know anyone in my area.

    Thanks - Roger

Jim -  thanks. Nice to have someone close to me. I tried calling but, I assume they are closed until Monday. I hope they make house calls.

You can pull it all the way back if the idle rpm is set correctly. Yours is way too low.

Get with someone to show you vacuum gauges and how to use them.
