Re: Carb Float Bowl Breather/Overflow

Update! -
Removed my carburettors today.
Pre adjustment measurement - 10.5mm float actuating arms, both sides . As measured from centre post/jet to top of each arm, with carb upside down.
Tried to do an "in situ" adjustment, to reduce above measurement - brass very springy - is there a special technique???
Managed to get about 1mm, so down to about 9.5mm (both sides) - will this make a difference? - we will see.

Don't leave it at 9.5mm. Try to at least get it between 10mm - 11mm. 10.5mm is the correct setting. All you do is HOLD the float armatures from moving and then bend the tab the needle valve is on up or down to get the MM set you want.. The measurement can come from placing a MM ruler on the edge of the float bowl and sliding it over towards the float armature. Then the measurement is taken from the flat top on the armature.
The other way is to buy the Rotax tool for doing this that slips down over the main jet post and then you use a feeler gauge. I think the first way is faster and easier.

Thanks Roger,
"The measurement can come from placing a MM ruler on the edge of the float bowl and sliding it over towards the float armature. Then the measurement is taken from the flat top on the armature."
I don't understand - the "float bowl" has been removed and if it wasn't how would I gain access to the interior?
"Then the measurement is taken from the flat top on the armature."lat top on the armature" no problem with this.
I tried to find detailed instructions/video, to be sure I was taking the measurement's between the correct points & making the adjustment correctly - could not find anything. So I just made several point to point measurement's, until I found that between the "central "jet post" & the armature it was10.5 mm.
(Why is the, much easier, measurement not taken from the "washer" on top (when carby upside down) of the jet post ?)
"All you do is HOLD the float armatures from moving and then bend the tab the needle valve is on up or down to get the MM set you want"
The "tab" is under the pin that holds the armature assembly in place, what tool do you use to bend it?
"Don't leave it at 9.5mm"
What may the effect of 9.5 mm setting be??

Update:
Sonex is "in the shop" for a rethink/fit of cooling system, change to fuel reticulation/management, engine service, etc - may take some months..
Carburettors are still leaking, as per original posts, despite in situ "fixes": as recommended and reported on earlier in topic.
Seems to me I have two options:
Send carburettors to Rotax national agent/dealership for checking.
Replace float bowl fuel shut off needle valves.
(Engine now has total 50 hrs - 45 flight hrs)
Your advice, as always, very welcome.
