Curtis Oil Drain Plug OK for S-LSA?

Numerous Rotax-powered engines feature after-market quick drains on the oil tank. It's important to note that Rotax does not grant approval for such add-ons, as they have not undergone testing, and we have never witnessed them providing approvals for aftermarket components. We cannot assess the quality of the drain you are contemplating purchasing because we (Rotax-Owner) have not conducted any testing on it. Thus, the ultimate responsibility for ensuring its correct function to prevent auto-draining will rest with you.

For SLSA you would need authorization from the aircraft manufacture for that so contact Sling.

P.S. Check your maintenance manual. If they have authorized a quick drain, it will be listed near the end in the Substitute Parts section.

I already reached out to Sling previously. Their reply: "Unfortunately this approval needs to be approved by Rotax."

The aircraft maintenance manual does not speak to parts substitutions.

Since they are passing the buck you are out of luck. BTW, Vans list two quick drain substitutes in their maintenance manual for the RV-12iS.
