File for iS software(firmware) update?

We would like to provide some clarification regarding our latest e-mail release. Essentially, there are currently no new software versions available. Rotax issued this release solely to incorporate the 916iS, and it's essentially a revision of a release from three years ago. Nevertheless, it's crucial for you to confirm that your software is the latest version during each annual inspection.

Furthermore, it's important to note that Rotax made a mistake in the SL (Service Letter) by inadvertently leaving a revision tab next to the 915iS engine. When we sent out the email notification, we believed that there was a new revision to the 915iS software. However, upon closer examination, it became evident that this was actually an ECU software update released three years ago in conjunction with the introduction of the new Turbocharger for the 915.

We acknowledge that this clarification should have been included in the initial email notification, and we apologize for any confusion it may have caused.

We've checked your Serial Number 7705679 in the Rotax database, and it indicates that your engine was manufactured on 19.04.2021. As of that date, there have been no new software updates for your engine, so you should already have the latest software update.

However, it's always a good practice to verify this during your next annual inspection. Additionally, please keep an eye out for any new software releases by Rotax. If Rotax does release any updates, we'll make sure to send out an email notification to keep you informed.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that it is possible to check the ECU software level without the BUDS dongle if you have the Garmin G3X.  Is that possible or am I just imagining that?  I looked but I can't find anything.

1. Hold down the menu key while booting to enter config mode.

2. Select "System Information" (should be the first icon in the upper left).

3. From the System Information Device List, select "FADEC 912iS_Sport" (Or it may just say FADEC).   

4. ECU serial number and software number will be displayed on the right side of the screen.   

5. Turn off or re-boot unit to exit config mode.

That was it!  Thank you so much for your help!  Is there anything that you know of that an owner would need a BUDS dongle for?  Are we allowed to flash new software if it became neccessary sometime down the road?
