Today, I shut down for a few mins to swap a passenger and then when I went to restart, it took 3 attempts to get started. OAT was mid 70s. I’ve done this previously with no issues but today she wasn’t having it. Engine has about 200 hours on it running 91 octane no ethanol auto gas. Are these engines susceptible to vapor lock in the fuel rails? Any thoughts?

Outside temps in the 70s should not be a problem at all. However if the engine is very hot, and you stop it for a few minutes, the engine compartment is hot, fuel lines inside will become also hot. I have measured fuel temps up to 138F in this situation.

One good practice is to switch on fuel pumps for 2 minutes before engine start, once the fuel is circulating through the fuel tank, fuel temps rapidly lower to the 100s. Doing this you should not have any problem.
