Hi,

Our school has been running 912 iS engines on our entire fleet of training aircraft. However we have been facing problems with the voltage regulators. One of our aircraft has just had the coil kit changed and the fuse box and the regulators changed.

The Efis today registered a voltage of 14.0 with no load on June system, on loading the system with lights and avionics the voltage dropped to 13.7 volts. We then came back and did a ground run on the aircraft, buds registered a voltage of 13.9 with and without any load on the system.

When we checked the voltage across the battery terminal we found 13.7 without any load and 13.4 when the lights and avionics were switched on.

What are the acceptable voltages that should be displayed. I do understand that the Efis display could be wrong due to incorrect calibration.

Any help would be appreciated.

Your voltage readings are within specs and I wouldn't worry. Your readings may be off a few tenths too. Yours are very similar from what I normally see on other aircraft.

I have just replaced the fuse box assembly that includes both regulators for my 912is motor.the reason they where replaced is because I smelled Hot wires after returning from a short flight.112.0 Hobbs hours.Regulator B was heating up to 250F.Operating max temp is 176F,and I had a -2 amp draw with 13.7 volts. After replacement the regulator still heats up to 200F,and the voltage is 13.8 and I have checked each accessory individually for proper amp draw and everything checks OK.Also replaced both batteries with new ones.Regulator A operates at 153F.These reading where taken in flight RPM 5100.Also before replacing the fuse box I had trouble starting the motor (starter worked fine seemed like plugs where not getting juice)after replacing the fuse box it starts as usual.Whats going on? Help

I have temps strips on my ignition modules and my reg/rec. They have never gone over 149F

Do you have a 912is motor.I don't think these are ignition modules. The left regulator is for the motor and the right side regulator is for the accessories.
