I have just got my plane back after waiting 2 1/2 months for gearbox parts and the iS sport upgrade
Vibration issue has been resolved - hallelulia!
We had a fuel pump fail - I see there has been a recall on some of these....

Latest service bulletin now advising REGULATOR A&B issues - to be replaced

Are there any more replacement surprises waiting for us in the wings?

Seriously begs the question of quality control or adequate testing I am afraid.

Yes, another SB, sigh.. but, would you rather they just ignored problems like some other aircraft engine companies?
How much did your free Sport upgrade cost Rotax? They did not have to give it away and I think that was mighty good of them.
Having talked with the factory pilots who secretly flew the 912iS for 5-6 years before it was publicly announced I can say they did a great job of testing and quality assurance. Unfortunately you can do all the testing you want but when you release it to the general public, with dozens of different installations and applications, you will still get some surprises.

    Hi Rob
    Thanks for your comments
I realize with all new products there will be things that fail in the field even after exhaustive testing - if they are defective or not meeting specs they must be replaced unconditionally else they would be hit with nondisclosure before the day was out. Rotax has a responsibility the public and their shareholders to see this doesn't happen.

I believe the new improved iS sport is being offered at same price. Would anyone in their right mind still buy the original release ?
Are they even producing them any longer without these changes as standard? Doesn't make sense to me.

I guess if the larger airbox did not fit the installation a company would elect to stay with the standard 912iS.
