2012 FD CTLS. Was out the other day and noticed that when I'd kill the power abeam the numbers coming in for landing my lane A would light up and stay solid. After landing I'd run up , clear it and take off, upon going to land the same issue occured.

I cleared the light, tookoff and began my 45 min flight hope when the light came on 5 minutes in. This time it was flashing however and NOT solid. Not sure what the issue is. I spoke to someone at my flight school and they said that theres a mount from Lockwood that holds the wires going into the manifold an that I should start by installing that. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You can take wild guesses all day and never know what the problem is.

Download the fault report from the EMS to see why the light came ON.

If you are going to be doing your own repairs you NEED to acquire, or at least have access to a Maintenance Dongle.

The money you save on labor costs will pay for the dongle in a short time.

There is nothing wrong with doing your own repairs just don't start Rednecking them.  Do it the right way!

Flashing is a Minor Fault, Steady is a major Fault.

You may be looking at 2 separate issues or at lease 2 related issues.

Bill, where can I get such a tool? I notice you are within 10 minutes of me! My plane is currently at LPR until my checkride on the 13th then I plan to bring it to my hangar in County. Do you work on Flight Designs?

The BUDS Dongles are available from the Rotax distributors.

Sit down before you click the next line.  They aren't cheap!!!

    https://www.cps-parts.com/catalog/rtxpages/ecuready3lev2.php

I recommend only Level 2 or 3 versions.

The Level 1 version is read-only and does not allow clearing the faults after making repairs.

    LPR is my home Airport.

The MRK Aviation techs should have one but I fear that all their planes might have carb'd engines in them.

Contact me directly via my Email.

It is possible that the HIC connector for the A channel has a pin which was not seated properly when the connector was assembled. If the pin was not locked in properly it will be pushed away from the mating pin instead of sliding together thereby causing an intermittent  fault. Apply a force on each wire in a direction away from the connector on both half's of the connector. If any wire has a significant movement that pin is not seated properly.

    >>> " ... when I'd kill the power abeam the numbers coming in for landing my lane A would light up and stay solid.

The error occurs when pulling the power to idle after an extended flight.

This is Not an electrical connection issue.
