Agree Earth X is Rotax approved. I also would only go with a Li battery with a BMS.

I have listened to the relevant part of the video and as a chemist and someone whom has developed and tested Li battery packs for Aircraft I do not know what he is talking about !

Anyway go with Earth X quality battery that ticks all the boxes !

Thanks everybody for the input, as usual very helpful.

    Happy flying

Note that  the FWF video that was previously referenced was made almost 10 years ago. A lot has been learned about LiFePO batteries in that time period.

    Hi all

Perhaps a review of the installation manual helps.  Attached is the page referring to the battery.  Absolutely you require a battery management system as part of your battery (like Earth X has)  The only difference between the blue Earth X, (for experimental) and the certified version is the case.  The certified case had to meet some requirements to be allowed by the FAA.  internally they are the same.

    Cheers

Agreed, a battery management system is required in a lithium battery, but, be careful... not all BMS's are the same.

Some battery makers say things about their BMS's that just are'nt true. Of course if nobody has the ability to test a BMS, then, any wild claims would be accepted. And, as long as the battery starts the engine, nobody is the wiser.
