I am getting ready for the first start of my 915.  I checked all of my switches for Fuel pumps, Lanes and start and backup EMS power.  All check out on the switch side.

I have never operated a Rotax before so I read the operators manual and the start sequence as I understand it is:

1.  Fuel pump check with one left on for start

2. Lanes A and B powered up.  I assumed this would light the A and B warning lights

3. Apply engine start power

4. Hit the starter.

I have my fuel pumps connected using the engine harness connectors so that power comes through the fusebox.  When I turn on the fuel pumps, I get nothing.  When I turn on Lanes A and B, I get nothing.

In looking at the schematic again, I don’t see how the fusebox would be getting power to run the pumps before the engine start switch is close, as the only “permanent” power connection is the output from the generator on X3-3, but that is listed as an output, not an input.

I thought the Lane switches might provide power to the ECUs, but since the lane lights aren’t coming on, I am not sure if these switches just turn on the ECUs assuming they have power from the fusebox.

Can someone tell me how the fusebox gets power to run the fuel pumps before the start power switch is engaged?

And can you tell me if the ECUs are powered from the fusebox and only turned on by the Lane switches or should the lane switches actually provide power to the ECUs?

Lastlly, should the Lane warning lights come on when the lane switches are closed?

I understand these are rookie questions, but I am a rookie when it comes to the 915.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I found the answer.  After checking all connections again and finding all in order, I turned to YouTube and found a couple of videos on starting the 915 and found that I had simply misread the operators manual.  I was expecting something to happen after switching on the fuel pumps and lanes and didn’t realize that nothing happens until start power is activated.  I did that and all is well.

The only other thing is that I see that my iPad succeeded in posting my initial question twice.  I have yet to find a way to delete the redundant post.  If anyone knows how to do that, please let me know.

Remember on the 915iS shutdown is different. Unlike most engines you shut down Lane A & B first, then shut off the fuel pumps and then turn everything else off. If you shut the fuel pumps off first you can damage the ECU.
