Has anyone found oil leaking from their intake Pop-Off valve on a 916iS?   It started after my 100 hour maintenance checks.  It is not leaking or using much oil but I wonder if the seals on my turbocharger are bad. See attached photo.

Any ideas?

Hello, I have the same problem with my engine. I disassembled the turbo and examined it, I did not see any problems with the bearings. I see oil in the pop off valve after almost every start up.

Hi all...first there is no oil in the pop-off, that oil has to have come from the turbo up the intake.  This suggests you have a leaking, not seated, check ball on the turbo oil inlet line.  Best suggestion is to remove it and replace the ball and the seat (the banjo bolt)

Be sure you are not shutting off the engine with hot oil, allow more cooling time after runs before stopping.

    Cheers

Thanks for your suggestion. I have checked but there is still a leak. Even though 2 engines are brand new, they both have the same problem. Do you have any other suggestions on the subject?

If you have this condition watch carefully what comes out of the exhaust on startup, if it is a puff of white smoke the issue is the check ball and seat at the oil entry of the turbo.  This happens when the engine sits and oil fills the centre section with overflow into the inlet part of the turbo.  When you fire the engine this oil is pushed up the intake and into your intercooler and the engine.  This is the only way the oil can wet the pop-off valve.  When it opens the oil in the intake system will leave a residual amount on the valve like you are seeing.

If this was a steady leak you would see oil lose in the oil tank after a few flights.

    Cheers
