reverse polarity damage on FLYDAT

I had connected my Battery in reverse (polarity)..and fried some part in the FLYDAT. The manual says that it is protected by the fuse, but the fuse remained intact whereas something inside (next to the large capacitor) burnt. Apart from the FLYDAT the filter burnt too..as well as a fuse inh my radio.Has anyone had this experience and might know what else could be damaged?
