We have recently commissioned a new 914 in a Just Aircraft SuperStol, in New Zealand.

It's been a good learning curve trying to access the TCU using the TLR4.6a software.

Some things that might be helpful to others are :

1. Connect the computer box directly to the serial cable coming from the TCU, rather than adding an extension cable. For us, this meant getting the computer box into the foot well, as we didn't have a laptop !

2. The program ran on Windows XP okay, but we had to find an older computer with a 9 pin serial port (Com 1). That took a bit of time in these days of USB ports and we didn't know how or if it was possible to reassign a USB to Com 1.

3. Make sure the mechanical connection from the TCU to the turbo charger, via the Bowden cable is properly adjusted. At rest, the waste gate should be closed with 1mm of free play in the cable, adjusted first by the stop in the servo motor and secondly by the ferrule on the cable end nearest the turbo.

4. The throttle calibration was quite straight forward and confirmed under the 'Monitor' tab, while adjusting the throttle lever.

5. So, we think we've got it all right but a howling Sou' Wester has prevented us from test running today.

Cheers,
