My KitFox Seaplane is being shipped to the Philippines and will be 3 months in transit. Just wondering what to use for fogging and any general tips on storage preparation........

Thanks .........

    Warren,

Any good fogging oil from NAPA or any auto parts store will work fine.

Remove the air filters and with two cans of fogging oil, spray into the carbs while the engine is at idle speed. The engine will stall as the oil is ingested into the cylinders.

Next, put plastic baggies over the carb inlets and close tightly with rubber bands.

    Close off you exhaust pipe.

You may want to install special miisture absorbing plugs in each cylinder. I think one plug per cylinder is fine.

I'd remove all fuel from carb bowls.

A light spray of fine oil over the exposed metal parts of the engine and all that is attached to it would also help.

On the airframe, I'd oil everything that moves.

A product I used for years when I MFG'ed dive compressors to be used around saltwater was Boeing T-9. It was made for Boeing to keep corrosion at bay. It is good for almost anything around water. This leaves a fairly dry film and not a wet one. Another good moisture barrier product and non conductible is Corrosion-X. This stays somewhat wet and can be sprayed directly into wiring and contact areas to prevent moisture intrusion.
