Does the new oil formulation (in red container) have an expiration date. The old (black container)
had two dates printed on container near the top. I assume one was date of manufacture and the other
expiration date. However, the red container has only one date. To confuse the issue both containers
have a statement "retest after 4 years". What is the significance of that to us users?

I asked a friend at AeroShell and the new red bottle has an ink-stamp near the bottom of the bottle includes the manufacture date.
    the re-test includes:
    1 Kinematic Viscosity (mm²/s)ASTM D445
    2 Dynamic Viscosity (mPa-s)ASTM D5293
    3 Pour Point (°C) ASTM D97
    4 Calcium Content (%m)ASTM D4927 or D4951
    5 Zinc Content (%m)ASTM D4927 or D4951
I think it would be uneconomical to re-test, use it in your lawn mower?
My guess is that it is a legal disclaimer; I doubt the oil goes bad after 4 years but they were required to put a limitation on the storage time.

Sources have told me 4 years after that date on red container. Best to keep in shade and use in 2-3 to be safe. FLY!
