hi all,
changed from 2 blade warp drive prop to 3 blade whirl wind, makes it run smoother but still have sudden onset of vibration as soon as I unload the prop, usually after leveling out or latest when going in to descent. happens over wide range of rpm. engine has 52 hrs on it, but has been sitting for 10 years. don't know whether that engine has a clutch or not, but would like to find out. also don't know what shimming the gearbox means. have new engine mount rubber, but maybe not right firmness? also the former owner had a prop strike into snowbank, but thought nothing got hurt. magnetic plug didn't show any metal besides normal wear. seems to me some sort of harmonic vibration, just don't know what to do next. thanks for any input.

    Hi Eugene,

Here are a few things that may cause the vibration:

    Loose engine mount to plane,
bad rubber engine mounts or as you pointed out the wrong dura (hardness),
    carbs need to be synced,
gearbox needs to be shimmed, (you would most likely need to send this in to be done)
    prop needs a dynamic balance,
prop blades out of track and or not in pitch with each other
