Bing carb floats

Called Bing(http://www.bingcarburetor.com/index.html) yesterday to order some floats to replace some that had sunk and were to heavy.. They told me that they were out and may be 6 months before they get any. Anyone have a couple they want to get rid of.. Said their supplier was having problem making them.. Have 4 off of duel carbs on a 503 and 2 of them were 3 grams each and 2 of them were 7 grams each .. 3 grams is the correct weight.

    Where are you located?

    CPS has stock of the new floats part number 861-188.

    Hi John, I used to restore vintage motor cycles as a hobby, I was always able to fix sinking floats that were no longer available by painting them with fuel proof paint for model aircraft, with age they became porous and it sealed them back up so they floated again.

    This isn't how our floats work. It is not the outside coating that keeps these floats floating. It is the composition and the millions of microscopic air pockets inside the floats. If the float material composition and or density is wrong they can start to absorb fuel. I can take a car key and jab a good float in several places and it should still be good. That said you wouldn't want a float with a flaking exterior.

    Well what ever the reason is that some floats sink sink I think I the point here is that if it is not right/by the manual it is not airworthy/safe to fly.
